
Coronavirus infections in Beijing and Shanghai have declined after persisting with the country’s strict zero-COVID policy. Streets in Beijing are already busier, with residents from the districts of Fangshan and Shunyi returning to work. Beijing authorities have also allowed the reopening of several public venues in low-risk districts, including libraries, museums, theatres and gyms. The situation is less clear in Shanghai. It has plans to exit its months-long lockdown from Jun 1. But there is still confusion over what the gradual reopening would look like.
